Informative exchange at Interpack 2023

Today we were able to welcome Dr. Bettina Hoffmann (Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection) accompanied by her office manager, Mr. Hiß, as well as the managing directors of the Industrieverband Kunststoffverpackung e.V., Dr. Martin Engelmann and Dr. Isabell Schmidt, to our stand at Interpack.

The following topics were discussed together:

DUO PLAST portfolio with PCR – DUO EARTH products
With our DUO EARTH films (sustainable stretch films with 30% PCR), we achieve reliable and stable load unit protection made from high-quality, sustainable materials. On the other hand, every percent of raw material that we can replace with PCR conserves our resources and reduces the amount of waste. We can recycle the material again and again.

Presentation of our Product Carboon Footprints (PCFs)
We are able to provide you with basic data for calculating your own CO2e footprint. Our experts will tell you how films can help you reduce your CO2 emissions.

European Packaging Regulation – Draft Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
From 2030, packaging may no longer be placed on the market if it does not achieve a certain minimum level of recyclability.

We, as DUO PLAST, have already set an important course in this area. Our sustainable films for load securing have been on the market since 1998. With our product portfolio (especially the films in the DUO EARTH series), we are making a contribution to sustainability, protecting nature and improving your carbon footprint.

Future concepts to expand the circular economy
The continuous review of legal developments is an integral part of our management systems. For us, innovation is not just about developing future-proof, sustainable films and packaging concepts. Recyclability, the establishment of closed-loop concepts and the active reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in all areas of the company complete our comprehensive and sustainable product approach and the increase in process efficiency.

As a member of the ERDE initiative, we are already promoting the recycling of crop plastics. We also want to play a pioneering role in establishing closed-loop concepts in the area of industrial applications.

We can look back on a successful and constructive exchange at Interpack on the subject of plastic as a packaging material and valuable raw and recycled material for the future.
